Meet the Alpine A110 R Ultimate: Sporty, Exclusive, Powerful

Alpine sports cars are incredible, but not all of them are made for the road. The new Alpine A110 R Ultimate is the sportiest road-legal Alpine ever made.

You might not be immediately familiar with the Alpine name, but it’s a world-renowned French automaker that has built some of the most incredible sports cars to ever hit the tracks. Not every Alpine model is made to be road-legal, but we are much happier when they are. Thankfully, that’s exactly what we’re going to see with the new model that crossed the stage recently at the Paris Motor Show. Alpine showed of the new A110 and a new A390 B show car, Alpenglow HY6, and the A290.

It’s the Ultimate version of the A110

The name says it all, but we’ll say a bit more about this new high-performance machine. The Alpine A110 R Ultimate is the top version of this car to ever come from the brand. While this model is legal to drive on public roads, it still packs the track-focused aerodynamics expected of the A110. The aero package for this car includes:

    • A front splitter
    • Side skirts
    • A large diffuser
    • New top-mounted rear wing with large end plates

This package is reported to generate impressive downforce at top speed, keeping this rocket on wheels on the road.

    Can your Alpine be unique

The exclusive nature of the new Alpine A110 R Ultimate allows it to reflect the design and build of a specific two-level catalog. This means prestigious names, including Sabelt and Proltrna Frau, are combined to give drivers the perfect package of premium features and qualities that will make each version unique to the new owner.

Very few drivers in any area will own this incredible new car from Alpine, but just to make sure your neighbors don’t have the same color or setup, Alpine offers a wide range of customization options. There are 27 exterior colors to choose from, and the interior can be finished in nine Alcantara colors and ten different leather upholstery options. This ensures more combinations and possibilities than you might expect to see in the new super sports car.

Leather or microfiber is present from the floor to the ceiling of the car, including on the center console, dashboard, steering wheel, and door areas. Every customer has the chance to make their car unique inside and out. With the number of color combinations and a limited number of models, this shouldn’t be a problem for most owners.

    Lightweight speed and quickness

The Alpine A110 R Ultimate is a small sports coupe and that means it doesn’t need a massive engine to get it going. This little car uses a 1.8-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that delivers 345 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a DW6 gearbox and the exhaust is pushed out of an Akrapovic system to give this car maximum power.

In addition to the impressive power offered, the new Alpine sports car has a Launch Control automated start function. The power-to-weight ratio is extremely low, which makes it fast and fun while only producing 345 horsepower.
Handling some of the roll and grip of the car is a set of amazing Ohlins adjustable dampers. There’s also a set of AP Racing brakes with high-performance pads and new cooling ducts to help control this car. The incredible setup has to be harnessed somehow and this seems like a winning formula.

The A110 R Ultimate rides on a set of 19-inch wheels that wear Michelin PS2 Cup tires. The entire package is made to accelerate quickly, completing a run to 62 mph in 3.8 seconds.

    A limited run, as expected

Very few drivers ever get the chance to drive or see an Alpine vehicle. This incredible, small, and active car is limited to only 110 units. That seems fitting, considering the name of the car is A110. Each model comes with a high price tag, as you would expect. This limited run and high price means most of these cars will be in the hands of drivers with the cache to take them to the track for some fun.

    The Lotus feeling

Alpine is a much more boutique automaker than Lotus, which has been around for many decades. These two brands share a build philosophy, creating lightweight sports cars with the right amount of power to be incredibly fast and decisive on any road or track. The Alpine A110 has been a fantastic car for passionate sports car divers to enjoy for many years.

Does the new Alpine A110 R Ultimate sound like a car you’d love to drive?
