The 907-HP Lamborghini Temerario Makes Hybrids Exciting Again
Does 907 horsepower sound like an entry-level for any car? It’s exactly the starting point for the new Lamborghini Temerario Hybrid supercar.
Lamborghini’s latest beast packs a twin-turbo V8 and electric motors for a mind-blowing 907 horsepower that screams all the way to 10,000 rpm. This isn’t just another hybrid – it’s proof that going electric doesn’t mean giving up the soul-stirring performance Lamborghini is famous for. This new Lambo is ready to rock the automotive world and take things into the hybrid market with pure driving joy and excitement.
Filling those shoes won’t be easy
Lamborghini is committed to delivering hybrid excitement from its new lineup of supercars. The new Temerario takes the position that was occupied by the Huracan, which was the brand’s best-selling two-door Lamborghini of all time. Over the course of ten years, more than 29,000 Huracan models were sold, which is pretty impressive. Of course, it replaced the previous sales leader, the Gallardo, which sold nearly 14,000 units. Do you see where this is going? The new hybrid-powered Temerario needs to maintain or increase the sales figures of the entry-level supercar from this aggressive Italian automaker.
Clean sheet full of heritage
Although the new Lamborghini Temerario Hybrid is a clean-sheet design, using nothing from previous or current models to create it, the Lamborghini roots are obviously present. The exotic genetics of this brand are hard to ditch, making it easy to find an incredible supercar hiding underneath everything this car brings to the table. The Temerario brings the familiar shark-nose front end and a prominent lower-lip spoiler to the mix. It has the sharp corners and lines that you expect to see on a Lamborghini, making it aggressive and ready to take on some of the toughest tracks on the planet.
Full power for extreme fun
Under the aluminum skin of the Temerario resides an all-new spaceframe, which helps keep the car extremely light. The power for this incredible car comes from a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine and a trio of axial-flux electric motors. It seems that Lamborghini threw everything they had at this car. Power is sent to the wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission to provide drivers with 907 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque for the drive. The engine alone produces 789 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque, which is incredible, but adding the motors helps increase those figures.
Although its yet to be tested, the new Lamborghini Temerario Hybrid is expected to reach 60 MPH in as little as 2.4 seconds and post a top speed of 213 MPH. The small 3.8-kWh battery pack sits in the center tunnel alongside the transmission and it can give the car up to five miles of all-electric driving range, which means nobody is running errands using only electric power. Still, the battery is necessary to provide power to the electric motors, making this car more powerful and fun on the road or track.
Hybrid power for instant speed
In addition to the incredible power offered, the hybrid configuration delivers instant torque and linear power, allowing this new hybrid supercar to have plenty of power over a broad range of speeds and driving situations. Thirteen drive programs are available, accessible through a rotary button on the steering wheel. These include launch and drift modes, with the drift mode allowing three levels of tail-out driving fun. This car has a playful demeanor that wasn’t present in the car it replaces.
Redline where you want it
The new Lamborghini Temerario Hybrid’s redline is set at 10,000 rpm. That’s an incredibly high figure that actually increases to 10,250 rpm when launch control is used. Peak power arrives at 9,000 rpm, making it easy to rocket off the line and hit high speeds in a hurry. That peak power is sustained to 9,750 rpm, making it easy to continue accelerating before the car makes its final shift into the top gear. The turbochargers are massive, so massive that they don’t fit into the V of the V8. Instead, they are mounted above the valve covers. Because they are so big, you have to get the car up to 4,000 rpm before they kick in and contribute any power.
More cabin space than the Huracan
The new all-aluminum chassis provides more interior space in the Temerario than the Huracan. The headroom grows by 1.3 inches and the legroom by 1.8 inches. This means the cabin should be large enough to accommodate divers who stand up to six feet five inches tall while wearing a helmet inside the car. Helmets are required on many tracks, which means leaving room for them makes sense. The 18-way adjustable driver’s seat is heated and ventilated, and some styling cues have been borrowed from the Revuelto to give the new Lamborghini four stitching patterns for the upholstery.
It’s a modern supercar
The new Lamborghini Temerario Hybrid offers the most advanced suite of infotainment and connectivity of any Lamborghini. There are three displays across the dashboard. You’ll see a 12.3-inch instrument panel with three user-selectable views, an 8.4-inch infotainment screen in the center, and a 9.1-inch passenger screen.
This new Lamborghini supercar shows how hybrid technology can still be exciting and fun. This advanced engine tech isn’t just for the plodding Prius any longer; the Temerario embraces hybridization and will make you thrilled to be behind the wheel for an exciting drive.
