The Ford Mustang Mach E is one of the top-rated electric SUV models and the Tesla Model 3 is at the top when it comes to luxury electric cars. However, these two models have more similarities than you might think, including their price range and sporty performance. Let’s take a look at how these two match up head-to-head.

    Predicted Reliability

The latest Tesla Model 3 has a predicted reliability score of 74 out of 100, while the latest version of the Ford Mustang Mach E has a score of 69 out of 100. That means the Tesla falls into the 70-80 Average category and the Mach E is in the 0-69 Fair category. Tesla’s warranty is slightly longer than the Ford as well.

    Interior Comfort

Both models have two rows and seating for five passengers. The front seats are supportive and comfortable, but the rear rows in both are somewhat cramped. The Mach E comes with synthetic leather upholstery and heated front seats are available. The Model 3 also has standard synthetic leather upholstery, but heated seats are standard on the Tesla.

    Cargo Space

Considering that it’s an SUV, the Ford Mustang Mach E has a distinct advantage over the Tesla Model 3 sedan when it comes to cargo space. The Mach E boasts 59.7 cubic feet of cargo space with the seats folded. It also has 4.7 cubic feet in the front trunk. The Model 3 has 19.8 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk and 3.1 cubic feet in the front trunk. Both models have a hands-free liftgate as optional equipment.

    Interior Features and Quality

Both the Mach E and Model 3 feature cabins with a minimalist design, but the Mach E has slightly better build quality with soft-touch surfaces and a friendly layout. In terms of features, the Mach E has a slightly larger touchscreen display and includes wireless Apple/Android integration. The Tesla doesn’t use Apple or Android integration.

    Acceleration

Tesla has a slight edge in this category with a zero to 60 MPH time of 5.8 seconds. The Long Range and Performance models can do it in 4.2 and 3.1 seconds respectively. The The Mach E is no slouch either with the base model accelerating from zero to 60 MPH in 5.8 seconds. The GT Performance model can do it in 3.5 seconds.

    Driving Range

It’s hard to beat Tesla in this category. The base Model 3 offers a driving range of 272 miles, the Long Range gets up to 341 miles, and the Performance trim can go up to 315 miles. However, if you opt for the 19-inch wheels on the top trims, this range gets cut. The Mach E boasts 230 miles of range for the base model with the standard battery. The extended-range battery boosts this to 320 miles. The Tesla Model 3 is also one of the fastest-charging EVs available.

In the categories of driving range and fast charging, the Model 3 is a clear winner. However, the Mach E takes the win for cargo space, interior quality, and tech features. In other categories, both models are very similar, so it depends on what your priorities are in an EV.
